If you’re a teacher, scientist, technologist or entrepreneur working in a STEAM-related field, Symbiosis provides the opportunity to share your knowledge and passion with students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Through networking opportunities, classroom visits and on-site shadowing to volunteering and paid internships, mentors can provide all children, regardless of geographic location, ethnic background or family income, the ability to develop their passions and abilities, and encourage them to pursue further STEAM learning. Without mentoring, students—especially girls—tend to lose interest in STEAM.
Many STEAM learning organizations for children and youth exist largely in isolation today. Driven by a diverse network of cross-sector partners and community collaborators, like your organization, Symbiosis will become a vibrant model for scaling the kinds of learning and careers needed in a knowledge-based economy. Symbiosis will create a thriving network of hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals, joined in local and regional partnerships. The objective will be to collaborate in new and creative ways to increase equity, quality and STEAM learning outcomes for all youth.
